OC'ed PS2?
I wonder if the dev team can make a hack that emulate an OC'ed PS2

I also would like to know if this will benefit heavy games

RE: OC'ed PS2?
Yes, we can do that.
There's many aspects that go into the final emulated system speed though and some of them are already
behaving faster than on a real system.

We plan to have a variable system speed slider some time in the future anyway, for exactly your mentioned reason.
It will benefit games that ran slow on a real PS2.

So by turning on this OC hack you can get better performance with the same PC specs? Is this a feature planned for v1.0.0, or later?

RE: OC'ed PS2?
This OC will possibly make some games run smoother only if you get above full speed with VU Cycle steal and EE cycle rate both at 0. These sliders at the speed hacks panel actually underclock the emulated PS2, so it allows slower computers to run the emulation, but the games don't always "agree" to keep the same speed when underclocked, which is why the sliders can cause false FPS and other issues.

So you can think of this overclock as moving the sliders "backwards" to the left side. So if you don't get full speed with them at 0, you won't get any advantage by moving them further to the left.

Laptop: i7-3630qm/gt650m-2G/16G RAM/Win7-64. Desktop: E8400/6G RAM/GTX260+/Win7-64. Scroll smoothly with SmoothWheel for Firefox.

No. Only theoreticly you would need somehow hack a BIOS,or use some other program Tongue

I've read somewhere that it would be unstable if it would be incresed even a little.

RE: OC'ed PS2?
@Livy But really... what's the point to overclock a console? I mean, there are some games that slow down even on the actual PS2 but why to overclock it? Tongue

if rumor holds true, the PS2 never hit its max clock speed. I know that in the PSP's case were were all lied to and told 300mhz was max, then about a year or 2 later an "unlock" came in the form of a firmware update at put it at 333mhz. Now I don't know if this applies to PS2, but the rumor was out there for a while
