PCI-E x16 2.0/ V1 slot?
#1
I have an Acer aspire 5641 with only PCI-E x16 v1 slots, and I need to get a new video card, but the model I need to get is a v2.0 card.

Will a PCI-E x16 v2.0 card work in a PCI-E x16 V1 slot?

yeah it will work just fine, except probably if it is a high end card (something better than a 460 gtx +-) it will perform worse than it should (not that much to even care except if you are gonna put a 570 or something Tongue2).
OS: Win 7 Ultimate x64 sp1, MoBo: Asus P5QD Turbo, CPU: Q6600 @ 3,0Ghz, RAM: Trancend 2x2gb 6-6-6-18 800 MHz, GPU: HD 4850 1gb.

I'm thinking about getting this:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as...6814130586

because it's cheap and I need something 8800GTS or better for fable 3 PC (yes, I'm upgrading for a PC game)

64-bit, are you kidding? 128-bit is minimum these days... Try this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as...6814130580 instead, it has DX11 and other useful features.

I wouldn't call that an upgrade, in fact I think it would be even weaker than your 8600gt...

Nvidia GT220 is better than that at few dollars more.

possibly.. it's the dumb fable 3 8800 req that's the issue lol as far as it being "weaker", mybe, but my 2.2 dc won't be able to maximize it anyway

Well Intel dual core at 2,2Ghz is enough for all games on PC, As far GPU upergrade I think 210 won't give better results. I used to have Ati X1550 and changed to Ati HD5450,and have good results.Don't know well Nvidia cards.

Of course they will say it who would than buy CPU (except for PCSX2).
Have you tryed Assassins creed 2 or Arcania or other new games? I know they are useful, but they won't make big FPS diffrence. 2,2 Ghz and 2,6 Ghz isn't really a diffrence you will see in FPS (only on PCSX2 Smile )
