well the overall laptop is very weak for SO3 then i won't help at all
SO3 is a rich 3D game enviorment and it needs a Mega-CPU intensity of 4~5Ghz and video card like ATI HD 57xx~,HD67xx or Nvidia GTX series.

tallbender: 4-5ghz? My main PC can play SO3 fine at 3.5ghz with some speed hacks and a 3850 vid card Wink (forget which exactly, been a few months since I last played it, but I definitely didn't have any significant slowdowns)

Core2 E8400 @ 4.0Ghz + Geforce GTX260 plays is nicely at almost always 60FPS.

I also played SO3 although I didnt finish it on my main, and I had no slowdowns. Atleast not during the regular gameplay. I also played at x3 scaling on my old 8800gt with ease. Still @ OP with 2ghz your out of luck on this one.

Edit: My brother also played it recently on a 2600K @stock and fps never once droped below 50(pal) it mostly played at over 80 if limit was off.
Specs:
CPU: C2D E8400 @ 3.6
GPU: GTX 560Ti 2Gb
MOB: Asus P5QL
RAM: Crucial 4Gb
OS: Windows 7 64bit/XP 32bit
