PCSX2 1.0 + ZZOGL 0.4 = only sound in a black screen
#31
In that case, it's entirely likely that it was a change to the Intel driver / mesa. Like I said, the fact that the whole screen looks like it's made of shattered glass for a full few seconds after picking anything up in Katamari doesn't make it especially playable, but it still stayed close to fullspeed during this time on a slightly overclocked 2500k iGPU before. Now it drops.

Hello there!

I recently bought Tales of The Abyss, a.k.a one the best games ever, because I had heard I would be able to play it on my ps3, but I found out I didn't have the system version of ps3. So I searched for a emulator on my for my google chrome laptop that is double-booting ubuntu. The version of ubuntu I have is bare, and I have almost no idea what i'm doing... I managed to install pcsx2-unstable and the Tales of The Abyss iso. I got the bios and whatnot and I ran the game through the (full) boot, but it came up a total black screen. I then tried (fast) and the screen went white in widescreen, but then went black and never changed after that. I have the same plugins as it says in the title of this thread. I've searched the entire internet, but it seems like nothing has helped. Well nothing i've understood and was able to do... This is what my console thingy says:

Your system is far to weak for pcsx2.

And do you have a GPU?

How does this computer even boot any modern Linux distro?? Anyways, there is no way at all your computer could enjoy pcsx2.

http://forums.pcsx2.net/Thread-Sticky-Wi...y-computer

And there is no gaurantee that a stronger computer would play at full speed as Linux version still has a ways to go due to gpu driver status.

Just for the record, I have two systems with Intel Celeron CPU 847 @1.10GHz running recent linux distros and PCSX2 (although the sandy bridge graphics have issues with GSdx).

Easy. Celeron 847 is a Sandy Bridge based ULV (ultra low voltage) processor. As such, it has a GPU more than sufficient for modern DEs like Gnome Shell or Unity. And 2GB of RAM is plenty enough for Linux. PCSX2 is a different matter, it should at least work, but at far from playable frame-rates.

I think you're a bit too harsh on the state of Linux drivers. True, the GM45/Ironlake driver is incomplete. But the situation is quite different for Sandy Bridge, the only thing missing is geometry shaders. So a desktop Sandy Bridge machine could very well be able to handle pcsx2.

Ahhh, well that sucks... Be glad when I save for a gaming pc! Thanks all for your quick reply! I was worried this forum had died already! Smile

Is that like a graphics card? I grew up using Windows, so I usually didn't have to worry about any hardware, because it usually just ran everything wI wanted with what it came with. I have more of a knowledge of software.

GPU = graphics processing unit, AKA graphics card.
