Think I might have answered my own question though. I just went into bios. This thing has a really low core speed. 1.40. I'm afraid that's too low for PCSX2, even if it is Quad-core. Agreed?

1.4 is a smarphone speed, isn't it ? AMD drivers are slow and heavy on the CPU. So all parts of the emulator EE/VU/GS must struggle on your CPU.

Hello everybody.

I'm new (noob) at linux and currently using Ubuntu 14.04 x86 and i have issues installing PCSX2 from source code.

I've added the PPA as instructed and updated.
Then when i run PCSX2-linux.sh i get this wall of text that can be summed up by "a whole tree of dependencies is missing" :

I also tried sudo apt-get install pcsx2 to no avail :

So, what did i miss ? What did i do wrong ?
And third, would migrating to 16.04 helps ?

If you installed the PPA, you need to run the binary of the PPA. Namely PCSX2.

Hi, and thanks for the answer, and sorry for the delay.

I tried both binary PCSX2 from /. and from /bin and i get this message :

./PCSX2: error while loading shared libraries: libwx_baseu-3.0.so.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

I was using the binary of the unpacked compressed package PCSX2 1.4.0 Linux Binary. I now understand this wouldn't work here. So i tried to install it from the PPA and i get this error :

pcsx2:i386: Depends: libgcc1 (>= 1:4.1.1) but 1:4.9.3-0ubuntu4 is to be installed
            Depends: libc6-i686 but it is not going to be installed
unity-control-center: Depends: libpulse-mainloop-glib0 (>= 1:0.99.1) but 1:4.0-0ubuntu11.1 is to be installed
                      Depends: libpulse0 (>= 1:0.99.1) but 1:4.0-0ubuntu11.1 is to be installed

Is that an architecture issue ?

What is your OS ?

The linux binary requires WX 3.0 (with GTK2 backend), the 32 bit version.

However it is strange for the PPA. Do you have others PPA / apt source ?

Ubuntu 14.04 LTS trusty 64 bits.

Could be steam. Could you try to install wx 3.0 in 32 bits. Hopefully the binary will work. My OS is debian Jessie which is quite close of 14.04.

Manage to install something that might be what you recommand. I used :

sudo apt-get install libwxgtk3.0-0:i386

Definitely made some progress here as now half the error message is gone :
