More detailed info about my machine.

In short, the roms I play are running poorly, with distorted audio (people talking as if stoned and with strange echo effect). It would seem that the actual speed of the games themselves are ok...but when the FPS drops, so does the sound. A drop of 10 frames, from 50 to 40 or even 45 renders the damn thing near unplayable!

I figure that I that it maybe wise to upgrade my computer.

Iwonder if someone can answer the following questions:

1) Do I need to upgrade just one component of my computer, or all of it?
2) if yes to 1) what would that component(s) be?
3) What would be the approximate price range Id be expected to pay?

first 45 FPS is quite playable Tongue ( unless you're having False FPS reading )

what is your GPU if it's internal then that's what you need to upgrade ....

and your CPU is kinda average ...

bottom line what the games you're trying to play and what is your GPU ( graphic card )

Sorry.

I have since went to the latest version of PCSX2, 1.0; and have defragged the hard drive, registry etc.

RAM: 2046 Mb
Graphics Card: ATI Radeon HD 4600 Series, 1024 Mb

Im not sure what you mean by an internal GPU. Arent all GPU's by nature, internal, i.e. in the tower case?

If you meant integrated with the processor, then no, mines is not.

The games I have tried to play range from:

RE4
FFX
FF12
The Warriors
Yakuza
Yakuza 2
FFX-2

FPS has dropped to about 20 at points. The audio is also sluggish and crippled.

Yes abdo, I am indeed.

distorted audio (people talking as if stoned and with strange echo effect). It would seem that the actual speed of the games themselves are ok...but when the FPS drops, so does the sound, dramatically.

Ergo, that is why I am asking if perhaps my system is SO crap and ancient, that it needs an upgrade.

No jesalvein; I am not.

I am using ISO files already and booting them via the emulator.

I have managed to locate my original PS2 console. I wonder if perhaps it maybe more effecient for me to use the PS2 console? I am not sure how how I would do that in conjunction with the PC monitor; or what hardware I would need. I dont have a TV, and I am unable to acquire one hence my question odd as it maybe initially.
