PCSX2 on modern CPUs

I haven't launched PCSX2 for almost 2 years. From what I remember software rendering was almost unusable back in the day because of low fps. How well does PCSX2 run on modern CPUs? Can the latest Core i7 run in software mode in fullspeed something like MGS2-3, GoW, Valkyrie Profile 2, Jak and Daxter, GT4, Tekken 5, etc.?

Most games, yea. Some titles are still too demanding though.

That's a pity. I guess we'll have to wait for Ivy Bridge.
