It definitely did on my end.

I have seem this phenomenon on my CPU for a long time. Hyperthreading has nothing to do with it. My laptop CPU is a Phenom II X4 N930 @ 2.0 Ghz w/o Hyperthreading. When I run PCSX2 and Dolphin (Dolphin supports 2 cores, too), I see all 4 cores working, 40 → 60% each. When I set affinity to force PCSX2 and Dolphin to use 2 cores, the 2 selected cores are at full load, the others 2 stay at 0%, and I gain no FPS increase. This is really weird. The OS must have done something with them.

k here are the results from running Fatal Frame 2 in software mode, I took average fps readings at 3 specific points during first the 5 minutes of the game:

i7 920 @ 3.8GHz (4 cores, 8 threads) [4 cores showed moderate activity]
Point 1: 90fps
Point 2: 100fps
Point 3: 80fps

i7 920 @ 3.8GHz (2 cores, 4 threads) [4 threads showed heavy activity]
Point 1: 65fps
Point 2: 80fps
Point 3: 60fps

And suddenly I appreciate quad cores just a little bit more lol Now I'm wondering about those hexa cores...

you won't get any improvements on the hex cores apart from higher stock clocks.

In software mode? You didn't say that before. The GSDX software renderer supports multiple threads.

but SW mode doesn't automatically use 4 cores ( or more ) right
