PCSX2 works beautifully until blue disc?

Thanks beforehand for any assistance with this.

I'm running version 1.4.0 in Windows 7. I was an avid gamer back in the 90s and early 2000s, so I'm fortunate to have all my PS2 games on the original discs. I've had no issues playing any games (other than some hang-ups and slowdown here and there), until I tried playing Contra: Shattered Soldier. The only difference is that it's a blue disc, which if I recall correctly, the PS2 was sometimes kind of crotchety about loading anyway.

I checked the compatibility list for Shattered Soldier and there don't seem to be any issues. Anyone else had this problem with this game or blue discs in general?

Blue discs are CDs. I suggest you update to the latest git build as it has resolved some CD related issues : http://buildbot.orphis.net/pcsx2/index.php

But what exactly is the problem? Does the game not load at all?

I would really recommend making ISO's of your games, it will really improve the performance and reduce hang-ups and stuttering to an absolute minimum (if they are even still there).

You can get the tool from http://www.imgburn.com/

Oh and if it wants to make a bin/cue instead of an ISO, let it, it does that for a reason Tongue

Oops. Sorry. This is pretty crucial: I get the infamous red screen asking me to insert a Playstation 2 disc. I'll try your suggestion and see if it helps.

How exactly does one update to a git build? I followed the link and found a listing for builds with a description of issues they address, but I'm not sure which I need.

Yeah that's why he suggested upgrading to 1.5.0 Tongue

Thanks for the help! Worked like a charm! Alright, I'm sold. I'll probably just make ISOs from here on out.

ImgBurn really is a magnificent piece of software. After setup, it took about three or four clicks, and *BOOM*. Welcome back to the Alien Wars!

Yep Smile Imgburn is great, does an excellent job with PS2 games, I don't think we've had an issue with any ISO made from that before. The ease of use is a huge plus, not to mention it is intelligent when it needs to be Smile
