Hi,

I'm thinking of trying this, but i was under the assumption that one didn't have to disable DSE.

Also, I'm assuming that after libusb-fixed is installed, that you just run the sixaxis64.exe and it should work? Is the second set of instructions only if it fails?

Thanks!

p.s. i just finished a new build and don't really want to mess anything up already. IF libusb disables my ports, all i have to do is uninstall it via ps/2 and it's as if nothing happened?

Any 3rd party, non-signed drivers will require you to disable driver signature enforcement on 64 bit systems. It's just the way it works, unfortunately, otherwise you blue screen crash. If you're on Windows 7, you'll probably need to use the second set of instructions to get things working. I'm assuming it's because Microsoft changed the hardware wizard slightly. I've had to every time I've installed this on my Windows 7 system. If you are using Vista, you shouldn't need to.

Yes, if you have successfully installed everything through the libusb-fix utility, you just need to plug in your controller, run the sixaxis64.exe, then press the PS button on the controller. Sometimes I need to run sixaxis64.exe a second time AFTER I press the PS button to get it working, though.

And yes, if you did something wrong and it kills your USB ports, just uninstall LIBUSB from your Add/Remove programs list with a PS/2 mouse/keyboard. If you install the custom INF filter correctly, however, that should ensure your USB ports don't get borked. Note that for many machines you'll have to restart in order to get the computer to detect the PS/2 mouse/keyboard properly.

Do'h... Wacko

I too meant Visual C++ but I had the 2005 version installed. Anyway, I installed the one in the link you provided and did the final steps. Than I went in the game controllers config in Control Panel and the DS3 was working... Hooray!!!

Except that when I got to configure it inside pcsx2 nothing was working anymore...Sad That's really odd. Vista x64 don't recognize the DS3 anymore either and no matter how many times I run the sixaxis64.exe and press the "PS" button. It just won't work.

It's really weird that it worked one time and bam!... fails everytime now.

KrazyTrumpeter05, do you have any idea what might be going on or did you ever experienced this?

Once again, thanks a lot for your help and sharing your knowledge. Smile

Did you try restarting and/or replug the controller? Also, when you unplug and replug, check to make sure it doesn't turn your PS3 on. It will turn to 1 steady red light instead of 4 blinking red ones if this happens. You need the 4 red lights to be blinking to know it's working properly.

Yea, I unpluged/repluged a bunch of times to no avail. I tried a couple of restarts too. When it worked at the control config on Control Panel I didn't notice if all of 4 leds were blinking but when it stoped working it had only the "1" led blinking, IIRC.

My PS3 was turned on but it's on the living room, like almost 10 meters away where my PC's are, not to mention walls and such. It's probably it, by what you said. I do know bluetooth devices have a very wide range but I didn't know the PS3 and the DS3 had such a wide range considering that the PS3 has such a POS wi-fi reception (i know wi-fi and bluetooth are two complete different things...)

Well, I'll try it again later with the PS3 turned off. Thanks for you help, KrazyTrumpeter05. Wink

Edit: just a quick edit to say it worked. Just remember to turn off your PS3 Wink

RE: PS3 Controller on 64 bit windows 2.0!
PS3 Wifi and bluetooth connection for controllers are completely separate things. Bluetooth range is much, much further than wifi on B/G and so is the connection quality. You could be five floors above a PS3 with your controller and you can still turn it on with the Home button or navigate the XMB (even if you couldn't see it Wink).

To get a PS3 controller working on PC, it can't be connected to a PS3. It must be on 'off' state before you plug it in.

Huh? Bluetooth max range is like 30 feet...

Bluetooth is, by design, a short range system in order to be a very low latency replacement for cables.

Caparroz: Glad it worked!

RE: PS3 Controller on 64 bit windows 2.0!
When I go to update the driver in Win7, I get this message:

"The folder you specified doesn't contain a compatible software driver for your device. If the folder contains a driver, make sure it is designed to work with Windows for x64-based systems."
