Oh I see then. I wonder if sony purposely made their system this complicated . > < Though I honestly figured the creators could do such a thing in a snap. Oh well. Ninja

It makes itself complicated lol.

I'm sure the Sony programmers have no problem making a PS2 emulator, the problem is making it run at acceptable speeds. Any CS major should (in theory) be able to whip up an interpreter-style emulator given that Sony has all of the original PS2 design information, but creating the core of emulators like PCSX2 (called either a recompiler or a binary translator) is a skill that isn't common.

RE: PSP Emulator
so, who want to be the angel of pcsx2 and the devil of the court?

steal it steal it steal it

If you download the PS2 bios illegally, you are breaking the law. Courts around the world have ruled that businesses and individuals can be prosecuted for illegal downloading.

yes, like runing it on vista Angry 60fps tops on ntsc U/C games for me. I'm pissed

Oh you and your Vista hate!

Sony also most likely had an easier time making a software emulator for the PS3 because PS3 chips are probably designed more closely to PS2 chips than PC processors, so there probably wasn't a lot of special code and stuff they had to write like our glorious overlords here at PCSX2 have to do Tongue

Oh you and your Vista hate!

if a 1.86 MONOCORE laptop (xp) can do 200 fps and my DUAL core 2.2 vista desktop can't I have a reason to hate vista

afaik, Ps1, Ps2 and Ps3 have many different to a normal PC. For an easy example: a PC would see PI=3.14159, and PS2 will see PI=3.141592653.., so the goal to emulate PS2 on PC is made PC see that PI like PS2 ( for example only, it's not real Smile) ).
Even if we know about ps2 design spec ( I thought we knew it already ), we cannot make a perfect emulator, because of the different between those two.

Nowaday, PC's hardware has enough power to run Ps1 game, that why most of them have a playable speed.
And last, it's my opinion only Laugh

RE: PSP Emulator
Yeah, that's because the PC's spec are growing fast. Someday we will have enough power to run PS2 game, and hope about Ps3 emulator

Saiki:
On my machine, using XP32, Vista32 and Vista64, testing around 50 games regularly, I can say you're doing it wrong.
Vista does NOT make pcsx2 slower! GSdx's DirectX9 mode with its z-fighting and slowness otoh IS a problem. Go figure.

And this is not a random thing either, so don't assume I was just lucky or smth.
