Persona 4 stutters
#1
Hey, so I'm using the pcsx2-unstable release on Ubuntu 12.10 (Quantal Quetzal) and I can't seem to get the game to start without stuttering from the intro forward, with increasing severity. I managed to get the game to do this once, but that appears to be an abnormal fluke as I hadn't modified any of my settings since the last time I started the game. I have tried turning off speedhacks, and changing the region of my console {I was pretty sure that wasn't going to help but I figured it was worth a shot}. I also looked into the possibility that enabling more speedhacks might help, but the general consensus of what I was able to find seemed to imply that more speedhacks probably would negatively impact game preformance, so I didn't try that. All my settings are currently set to default.

These are my system specs:
I have a G98M [Quadro NVS 160M] Nvidia graphics card
Intel® Core™2 Duo CPU P8700 @ 2.53GHz × 2
3.9 GiB of RAM
and a 32-bit operating system

Does anyone know how to solve this issue?

Without speedhack you are screw up anyway. Your CPU isn't too bad, but you GPU suck => http://www.notebookcheck.net/NVIDIA-GeFo...452.0.html
Intel crappy HD Graphics 2000 is severals time faster !!!

Do you have any recommendations for speedhacks which might make the emulator work with my GPU? Maybe they wouldn't work with this game, but I could perhaps play a different game.

Pretty much you need a more modern GPU. Your GPU supports OpenGL 2.1, you need >=3.3 as a minimum standard, preferably closer to 4.2 nowadays.
