Playing Melty Blood Actress Again on PCSX2 0.9.7.r3648
#1
Lately, my frame rates goes to hell everytime I'm trying to record a game (namely Melty Blood Actress Again). I want to see if anyone can help me with the settings on PCSX2 and FRAPS so I can record without lag.

----PC----
*Intel Core i5 processor 520M (2.4 GHz, 1066 MHz FSB)
*ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5650
Up to 2746 MB HyperMemory
*4 GB Memory

----PCSX2 settings----
----Configuration----
Graphics: GSdx 890 (MSVC 15.00, SSE41) 0.1.14
-Resolution: Windowed
-Renderer: Direct3D9 (Hardware)
-Shader: Pixel Shader 3.0
-Interlacings (F5): Bof bff (use blend if shaking)
-Aspect Ratio (F6): Stretch
-D3D internal res: 1024/1024
-SW rend. threads: 1
-Native, NLOOP hack, Texture filtering, Logarithmic Z, Alpha correction (FBA)
First/Second Controller: LilyPad 0.9.9
Cdvdrom: Linuz Iso CDVD 0.8.0
Dev9: DEV9null Driver 0.3.0
Usb: USBnull Driver 0.5.0
FireWire: FWnull Driver 0.4.0
Bios: Japan v01.00(17/01/200) Console

----CPU Config----
*EERec - EE/IOP recompiler (need MMX/SSE)
*VU0rec - enable recompiler for VU0 unit
*VU1rec - enable recompiler for VU1 unit
*Multi threaded GS mode (MTGS)
(faster on dual core/HT procs, requires pcsx2 restart)
*VU Skip - Same as 'Frame Skip', but tries to skip more. Artifacts might be present, but will be faster.
*Custom FPS Limit - 60
*Skip Frames when slower than - 45
*Consecutive Frames before skipping - 0
*Consecutive Frames to skip - 0

----PCSX2 Speed Hacks----
*Use x3 Cycle Rate (Known to work well with a couple games, namely Shadow of the Colossus, but breaks most other games.)

----Advanced Options----

*Clamp Mode - None
*Flush to Zero, Denormals are Zero

VU Recs Options:

Well no, not sure it's internal but it's FRAPS. You know, the program that records things.

Okay. I downloaded PCSX2 0.9.7.3648 (svn) with default settings and Melty Blood Actress Again's frame rate dropped greatly.
The only thing I changed on the emulator is the GS Plugin, GSdx 3649 (MSVC 15.00, SSSE3) 0.1.16 [GSdx-ssse3] with D3D internal res: 512 x 512 and Allow 8-bit textures checked.
Help?

FPS drop? What do the EE/GS% numbers in the game window say when you get that drop?

jesalvein was suggesting you try using PCSX2's internal recorder (press F12 while playing).
