Plugin Not Displaying?
#1
Hey everyone, I am sorry to ask this but I have searched everywhere and could not find a good answer.

I am trying to play FFX and the sound can get pretty awful sometimes. I heard that the audio plugin PEOP is sometimes better for this game. So I downloaded it and placed it in my Plugins folder (Yes the one that the selector recognizes as the correct folder) but cannot seem to select it from the list of plugins. Under the 'Plugins/Bios Selector' there is only one choice for audio and that is the default SPU2-X.
Any advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks people!

It should still work, unless you took a really old version of the plugin.
The 0.9.6 release download still has it:

Hey thanks rama!

Is there a solution besides installing a whole new version of PCSX?

From what I heard, the plugin doesn't get updated in general so the newest may indeed be very old. Not sure though.

Thanks again!

how does the sound get awful with SPU2-X? It's usually pretty good for most (if not all) games.

if your framerate is dropping, you might be better off using the SPU2-X from a recent SVN build as we have improved the time stretching somewhat, which you can get from here: http://pcsx2.net/download/development/svn.html

But make sure Timestretching is enabled and that your buffer isn't too small.

Well for instance just now when I got attacked by Khimari Ronso in FFX the music sounded like robots screeching. It might be the iso... I'll try out the new plugin, thanks!

We have reports from FFX games going bad occasionally. I think the problem is that picky squaresoft sound driver that seems to exploit every SPU2 quirk in existence.
Other plugins may work better here with their emulation so incomplete that sound is okay.
It's wrong of course, but might not be as bad as a misplaced sample in SPU2-X.
