Problem creating save data on several games

Hi, first off, I love the emulator, and have had no troubles getting any games to work until today. I downloaded MK Armageddon and SC II, and on both games the exact same thing happened. It will get to the screen asking you to create a save data, and nothing will happen when I try. For example, on SC II, it says "press square to create data" and "press start to skip this," and neither one does anything. I'm just stuck at this screen. Same thing with MK. It's weird because I've never had any problems with saving or creating saves on any other games. Any suggestions or solutions would be appreciated.
