Problem with the pcsx2 0.9.6 for linux
#1
Well, I've spent like 3 days trying to install this emu on linux (I'm a complete newbie, so I've done wrong things almost all the time) and finally, after following step by step the linux guide for instalation I've found here: "http://forums.ngemu.com/pcsx2-forum/97350-linux-guide.html" I think I finally installed it O.K. I made my user the owner of the launcher and gave to my user the permissions of lecture and writing for the whole folder of pcsx2. I'm pretty sure the install is done perfectly, but when I try to open my FF X iso file it simply closes the pcsx2. No error message, no sound... simply nothing. When I do Run FFX.iso (the iso file is mounted) it does exactly the same as the close button. I'm pretty sure the iso is correctly working, and my internet connection is for now way too slow for trying to re-download it (it took me 4 days, meaning by this 96 hours, to download it for the first time) So please, only answer if you have a better option than re-downloading the iso file. And, as I'm pretty much a newbie (I installed Linux because I've just started my Informatic Engeneery Degree but enven if I'm not too bad with computers my Ubuntu hes been installed just about one month ago) please tell me exactly what command I have to introduce in the terminal. If this question has already been answered please link me to the thread in which it has, as I've not been able to find it. Thanks in advance.

You don't need to mount anything -- CDVD plugin used simple ISO file to run a game. First, start from official 1736 linux beta -- if it run, we could check other issues.

i had that problem when i tried the official 0.9.6

but i think i missed something on the install.

let me line out what i did.

1st
`wget http://pcsx2.googlecode.com/files/Pcsx2-...736.tar.gz`

2nd
`tar -xzvf Pcsx2-linux-beta-1736.tar.gz`

3rd
`cd pcsx2`

4th???
#not really sure how/if to compile. most of the time those details are in a txet file in the arcive but nothing in the tar.gz and it just says it dosent like me if i try "sudo sh build.sh all" so i just ./pcsx2 then select the plugin and bios dir then "run bios(no cd)" it runs but wouldnt exit so i tried ctrl+c and it exited but did not close window so i had to kill. i went ahead and launched ./pcsx2 again to try a .iso and... any guidance would be greatly appreciated

Aha. This look like that you run pcsx2 actually, but it crush on this exact game. Run just bios (CDVD null plugin) -- if you will see picture, than you succeded.

I retried with the 1736 version for linux, but exactly the same problem appeared

I think in fact the problem is that it does not even "try" to open the file, as I tried to open some txt, rar and other kinds of files with both the 1736 and the 0.9.6 versions and it does the same as trying to open an iso file: it simply closes the program

Sorry? pcsx2 does not supposed to open txt or rar file. I don't know what's happened at such case. You should run BIOS (it's an option in File menus of pcsx2),

I know it's not suppossed to open that kind of files, so I was expecting an error message or such, but it simply closed the program, as iso files do. In run BIOS it says No Disc, so I'm trying to configure the CD/DVD plugin with the "get from Disc" option, but it seems it'll take quite a bit (maybe tomorrow it's ended). Hope that that will solve the problem.

What do you mean by bios picture?
I selected the bios folder, assigned a bios in the config screen but in file instead of "Run Bios" it appears "run Bios (no disc)"; and when I chose to do that, without any kind of reaction, the program closes, and no error message appears.

O'k. It's closed on every move. Please, what does it wrote in console, when you run BIOS, (yes, no disc).
