Question about Dumping BIOS
#1
Question
I'm a new user here and I've been following the Guide to Dumping Your PS2 Bios over LAN.
The problem is when I extract memoryexploit.rar from step 2 there doesn't appear to be any CDGenPS2.exe, titleman.exe, or title.DB. What I end up with are three folders for America, Europe, and Japan with XPS files in them.
Is there something I need to do with these XPS files, or did I do something wrong when extracting? I've tried running as Admin and using a couple of different extraction tools to no avail. Any ideas?
Thanks

Pretty sure you didn't do anything wrong as I had the same results. So I thought "Maybe this guy is reading the tutorial wrong?" and followed it myself. And wound up in the same place.

Seems the archive was played with somewhere. That first part is about the memory card exploit, which I also found here: http://sksapps.com/index.php?page=hdexploit.html

if you have swapmagic or a modchip for your ps2, you could try installing freemcboot on your memorycard and then you can dump it via usb. There are a couple more methods you could try to install it also, it's very handy Smile

Free McBoot - Highly recommended.

I loved it when my PS2 was still alive, and that's how I got my BIOS as well.

Thanks for the replies. I came across freemcboot on my searches but I wasn't too sure about it. My main problem was that it seemed like I would need to buy a swapmagic disk or a cheat disk (gameshark/codebreaker), but I found a few guides that claim to not need them so I'm going to try them out. Hopefully one of them works for me.

Thanks again
