Question about PCSX2 running times (temperature question)
hi guys, im new here in the forums but i knew PCSX2 since 0.9.2 version. i just got fond again of this software after i tried it out on my new system. it was pretty good, i did not expect that i can run such games like xenosaga III, ff-x, persona 3 fes, and persona 4 with 55 ~ 60 fps on scenes and battles.

i'm aware of the 'danger' that it can cause to my system, especially im only using a laptop. when i try to look around at my coretemp/CPUID it usually goes from 60C to 75C running at 30-50% load (core1 and core2), and sometimes at certain point in most of these games it goes after a maximum of 83C. and, i usually play around 1 ~ 2 hours maximum, after that i usually keep my system at rest. as for my GPU, it runs at about 49C ~ 55C max.

so, my question is, am i just running fine with the current temperature and longetivity in playing such games? im asking this because im also worried about my system, especially it's still not perfectly running at 60fps, there are times that it staggers to 50fps.

im using the new PCSX2 0.9.8
Intel I5 Core 430m (1ST GEN): SSE2 - i dont know how to O/C
Nvidia Geforce 105M
DirectX10
Ram: 3GB

i dont know if this is related to my question:

i've never played SCII, but i've played WoW until the 3rd expansion, and as far as i see during those times, the temperature is just the same running at those figures, but the difference is that im confident to play WoW at long hours, like 4 ~ 8 hours without rest. is that reasonable enough for me to extend my playing time for PCSX2?

If you get temperatures in the 80s range for long yes it is unhealthy and can damage your PC in the long run. If your average temps are around 60 you should be fine...I guess a cooling pad would give your mind a rest

i see, thanks for the reminder. when i see it that way, my temperature usually goes around at an average of 70C to 75C (that is playing persona, doing the school events and s. links) and 55C to 65C during dungeon events (battles). if my fps staggers to 50fps during school events, sometimes it goes around at 84C (that's the maximum temperature that i've seen so far, even with FF-X and Xenosaga III).

You could reach 100C on a daily basis and that CPU should still outlast it's relevancy. Intel's Core i series can take the heat 8)
