Random fps drop
#1
Hey guys. I have a strange issue with my pcsx2. This happens on all games. I run any stable game at about 150-200 fps (I play RPG's). But randomly, I'd say every 5 minutes. The game slows down to 40 fps, then 10 seconds later shoots up to 150 again. This occurs all the time and has nothing to do with graphic intensive moments in the game. I can not move at all and the fps will just drop for 10 seconds. Anyone want to help me out?

Setup:
Operating System: Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit (6.1, Build 7600) (7600.win7_gdr.101026-1503)
Processor: AMD Phenom™ II X4 940 Processor (4 CPUs), ~3.0GHz
Memory: 10240MB RAM
GPU: Nvidia GeForce 8800 GTS
Available OS Memory: 10240MB RAM
DirectX Version: DirectX 11

I am using pcsx2 r3878 will all r3878 plugins.

i doubt it has anything to do with cool n' quiet tbh. i have that enabled and i never get that. (or dual core optimizer for that matter, never bothered with that)

anyways, i'd say put in 4G more ram in that machine and you'll be good to know. they're like $50.

Sounds like a bad OS configuration / driver related issue.
I suspect it's something with your USB setup (in case you use a USB pad).

10GB of RAM ought to be enough for now Wink

there is a chance that cpu hot ( from over playing ) and cool and quiet is off ( automatically because the cpu is hot not cool ) so the cpu cools down then cool and quiet is on ( automatically )and then it gets hot again and ...
and when the cpu is hot his performance gets down

oops, it's the first time i've seen 10G memory. it's really odd, i would go with 2/4/8/16 but not 10GB since i don't see how you can get dual channel with that.

I use 2x 1GB sticks and 2x 4GB sticks. I'll remove the 1GB's and lower my RAM to 8gb and try that.
