Ratchet & Clank - up to 15 fps drops sometimes
#1
Has anybody been able to run the first Ratchet & Clank at a constant 60 fps using hardware rendering? If so, can you please let me know what PCSX2 build, Emulation Settings, and GS Plugin settings you're using? Other additional info could also be helpful. Thanks, really appreciate it!

I've used these builds:
pcsx2-v1.5.0-dev-1539-g5ff9e94-windows-x86
pcsx2-v1.5.0-dev-1749-g9d1b27c-windows-x86

The official latest stable release from the PCSX2 site itself, version 1.4.0
And also messed around with the Config > Emulation Settings, as well as the Config > Video (GS) > Plugin Settings

I was able to run the game at a stable 60 fps sometimes, but other times it would be unplayable slow, sometimes going as low as 40 fps. I have noticed that when there are a lot of enemies that are firing at you, it tends to slow down. GPU usage is never over 40%, and CPU usage is never over 60%. I have an quad-core i5-3570 3.4 GHz, GTX 1060 6 GB, and 8 GB RAM.

Here are my full specs:

PC Specs:
Nvidia GTX 1060 6 GB Founders Edition
Ivy bridge i5-3570 3.4 GHz
8 GB DDR3 RAM (G Skill Ripjaws X, 4 GB x 2)
Samsung 830 Series 256 GB SSD (SATA 6 Gb/s)
HyperX Predator 240 GB SSD (PCI-Express 2.0 x4)
Rosewill RC-701 sound card
Sony DVD-ROM Model DDU1681S-0B
Antec Earthwatts EA-650 Green (650 W)
Corsair Carbide series 400R
ASUS P8B75-V motherboard

I suggest to post your GSdx configuration

Use the latest PCSX2 version(The 1749 you're using should be fine), and keep mipmapping & Blending Unit Accuracy set to Basic.

Blending Accuracy might tank the FPS when game use too much complex shadows.

Also make sure you use OpenGL Hardware (seems people forgot to mention that part Tongue )

Only because it's not necessary.

I think perhaps he meant using OGL wasn't necessary? Doesn't mipmapping work in DX modes too?

Yes, mipmapping works for D3D as well.
