Requirements for playing GT4 on a laptop
#1
So, i was wondering what would be the minimum requirements to play Gran turismo 4 on PCSX2 with a laptop at PS2 native resolution

I imagine a i7 (or any good quad-core) is required, but what about the graphics card? Have anyone played it with a laptop?

gt555m was enough for me to play it on 2x native.
so any card performing better then that will do too.

With what processor?

Any opinions more?

I would say myself, don't bother playing GT4 on a laptop, since the CPU will drag you down bigtime, not to mention the GFX aswell, it's just way too slow compared to a desktop. Now even so that Weeny could play it on 2x Native doesn't mean you can play it decently. Since the i7's of Intel on a Laptop/notebook never goes above 2 ghz. and since the recommended speed for a quadcore is a 3 ghz, you can run the game, but not at full speed. I say this out of the many posts that were here and those were on normal Desktop pc's.

an intel i based quadcore with 2.8ghz is enough to run fullspeed (i7 2670qm for example) almost every i7-3xxx series on the laptop are turbo'ed above 2.8ghz so thats always a safe bet. (i7 3630qm for example)

Keep in mind that Turbo is running on 1 core, not all 4 Smile

Well, Frecuency is not all in processors, IPC is very important, i play in my desktop with a Phenom 945 that should be slightly worse than a 2xxx or 3xxx i7

But my doubt is more related to the graphic card

also on 4 but the freguency is lower then the max turbo (17-3630, 3.4ghz = 1 core 3.2 ghz are 2 cores, 3.0ghz = 4 cores)
i know this because i fhave owned i7 laptops.

i7 3xxx are better then your phenom by ALOT.

a 2.3ghz i7 = 3.0ghz phenomII
do the maths yourself if the i7 is clocked at 3.0ghz. (and no 3.7ghz isnt the answer)

Check my specs, I run GT4 without any problems at full frames, using MTVU hack. I recommend EE set to 2( not necessary, but seems to prevent rare slowdowns )
For me its as simple as what my computer can do and what it cant do. It plays GT4 decently so im happy, do i care if it doesnt play at x6 res? No because im using a Laptop with a Smallish screen.
Bottom line though, i wouldn't go lover than my speck`s or you might find some game's might lag eg SOTC
Msi GF-62VR
Intel  core i7 7700hq @2.8(3.5ghz turbo) Nvidia 6gig GTX1060 16 gigs DDr5   windows 10
