Resident Evil Dead Aim Black screen
#11
Hello,
I recently downloaded 0.9.6 version of PCSX2 and I really want to have a high quality/smoothness RE: DA game. As I see Shadow Lady has around 50 FPS and was wondering if I could make more.
My settings:

What should I change? Now I only get around 45FPS which feels like slow motion... And screen is shaking a little where the text before game is written.
What is Direct3D 10 renderer? Does it mean I need to install Vista or 7 to use it? Since it won't be a problem, i am willing to do that, just to get extra FPS.
I also wonder if OC'ing my CPU (in signature) could change anything.

Any help will be appreciated,
Martin

"wait vsync" in the gsdx settings is probably unnecessary, disable it. fullscreen (alt+enter during emulation) could net you some extra fps, too. update your pcsx2 and plugins with the latest offical beta installer from this forum and get the gsdx revision 1398 (might be faster than the latest gsdx on your ati). give the new speed hack "vu cycle stealing" a try (compare every speed hack against the fps without speed hacks, too aggressive settings might even lower your fps or create glitches/crashes). and yes, dx10 is vista/win7 exclusive, could make quite a difference with your gpu, but that depends also on the game.

Thank you for reply. Can you also direct me to 1398 revision and vu cycle stealing hack? I couldn't find them.
Do you have any idea why alt+enter during emulation doesn't work? Works on some other games, though.

Here's most of the GSdx revisions:

And VU cycle Stealing is only available in the latest PCSX2 beta:

oh right, with the dx9 renderer you'll have to choose the resolution in the gsdx settings to run it fullscreen. but beware, sometimes you'll be unable to close pcsx2 then, iirc the "escape hack" and lilypad's "send esc on close" should help with that (doesn't work for me on my win xp, but i run pcsx2 only under vista in dx10 mode anyway)

I have already run into that probem with turning off, before posting here Biggrin
Another question. In the link, posted by Lady Shadow, there are more revisions and common sense is telling me to download only latest version.
Is this 1398 somehow special?

Revisions after like 1406 seems to have slower performance in ATI cards but I cant make sure of that. I guess zero29 knows better having an ATI himself so that's why he recommends r1398.

yep, tested with ffx, full shiva summon. pre r1406 run with 50fps minimum @1600x1200 (dx10, no speed hacks), r1439 manages only 32. but this specific scene seems to show the greatest difference, most games i tried run at similar speeds with all revisions. dq8 runs at 15-20% slower, mgs3 virtually the same, sotc seems to even run a tad better with the latest gsdx. that's why i recommend comparing a revision like r1398 with the latest revision.

gabest mentioned on google code that he plans to aquire an ati gpu, mainly to test his dx10.1 experiments with gsdx, perhaps it will also help to shed some light on this new ati slowdown (it doesn't seem to be the comeback of the infamous "ati texture bottleneck", if i understood the devs correctly).
