Ring of Red freezing
#1
The game Ring of Red currently runs smoothly until a special ammunition (HEAT, APC) is fired. Upon striking the enemy unit the video freezes half way through the impact animation. Sound can still be heard and the FPS monitor still claims a 60fps. This happens without fail and cannot be worked around.

I have tried many different video plugins and settings. Im using the newest pcsx2 install with no addons. I know the game is not damaged as it works with my Ps2 console. The disc also looks clean. I have tried creating a .ISO image and using it. I managed to play 2-3 full levels without problems. The only thing that seems to lock the game up is that one action.

The game is listed as compatible and fully working but with no plugin or system settings given. Anyone have a working plugin setup?

Thanks for any help.

can you reproduce the issue by loading from a memory card save ? also, post the content of your emulog file. Thanks.

Yes, the problem happens when I load from:

Start of mission (memory card load)
Mid-mission save (memory card load)
Start the entire game over (I try the special ammunition as soon as available)
From a load state (emulator load)

I'd recommend setting anything to default then go from there, that and what jesalvein said.
Moe: [to Homer] And I'm pulling your favorite song out of the jukebox.
Homer: "It's Raining Men"?!
Moe: Yeah, not no more, it ain't. [throws the record out the window which lands into Smithers' car]
Smithers: Ow! [looks at the record] Ohhh.

what would ;e; do

A think we had a small misunderstanding. You asked "CAN you reproduce the issue by loading from a memory card save ?" and I answered yes in my post. This was meaning yes I have tried using a memory card load and many other load options with same results. I think you were meaning "would" you for the log file sake (different train of thought). Not trying to be a jerk just hoping you understand Im not trying to be difficult. I loaded from save state simply because it was faster (takes 15min to get to that point in the level from memory card load).

Anyway, (after the grammar jerk moment Smile ) Ill try the new build and post the memory card load if that doesnt do it. THX.

P.S. The tweaks were used after the default failed... I monkey'd around with it trying to get it to work including disabling cheats and WS mode.

WooHoo!

New build seems to have corrected the problem. Thank you for your help. I will post the build as working once I have played through and found no problems.
