Rogue Galaxy Director's Cut gray squares
#1
In both software and hardware mode the game renders gray squares in place of certain kanji. (Using 2014.12.03 build)

I tried changing various settings but no luck... If this problem looks familiar to anyone I'd like to know a solution Smile

Using JPN Bios?

(Just a guess here. I don't suppose their is actually kanji data in the BIOS... is there?)

Yes JPN bios. I don't think I've seen this glitch in any other game

It was just a guess.

I only have the NTSC-U Rogue Galaxy so I can't do any tests.

I doubt software mode fixes it?

I would try it in older builds
Intel Core i5 3570K @ 3.40 GHz, RAM 8GB, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 670, ASRock Z77 Pro3

Oops yeah I forgot I had an older build sitting around. The glitch doesn't appear in 2014.09.16 build so I guess something went wrong between then and 2014.12.03

Are you able to compile GSdx from GIT? It would help to find the bad commit. Otherwise use the buildbot build (http://buildbot.orphis.net/pcsx2/index.php?m=fulllist).

Sept 16 build would be

Code:
v1.2.1-707-gba1e522     gabest11     2014-09-16 05:37:06     No build     Less opencl bugs, some games are actually playable now, there are still texture errors.

This was right around the time OpenCL was being added to PCSX2 (1.3.0-706 on Sept 15). It's possible that's where it went wrong.
AMD Ryzen 5 3600 @ 3.60~4.20 GHz | Corsair Vengeance LPX 32 GB (2x16GB) DDR4-3200
MSI GeForce GTX 1660 Super @ 6 GB | Samsung 980 1TB | Windows 10 Pro x64 (22H2)

I reloaded my save and the glitch seems to be gone in my most recent build. I'm not sure what happened because I didn't change any settings. I'll look into it further if it happens again

Yes it is around opencl stuff. However it mustn't have any impact.
