Sandy Bridge = BIG improvement

Maybe AMD will finally be a serious contender with Bulldozer. I'm sure it'll be better because it is a new architecture.

It'll be better indeed, but will it be enough against Intel?

remember Athlon 64? there are sometimes an odd occurrence every now and then.

I don't get what all the fuss about Nvidia cards here is about? In this generation, AMD and Nvidia are VERY compareable, PC games work as fine with AMD as with Nvidia. I know there is the rumor, that AMD/ATi has bad drivers, but I never noticed it with my old HD 2900 card. And is there really such a great distance between compareable AMD and Nvidia cards in PCSX2? I hear it everywhere, but there seem to be plenty of people who playon AMDs just fine.
Intel i5 3450
AsRock B75-Pro3-M
Sapphire R9 290 Tri-X OC

Nvidia GPUs just simply produces more fps in Pcsx2. Several people have tested it and it has been proven to be true, including myself.

Pcsx2 for gsdx only use raw power from grapich card so where is more bandwith aka 64bit, 128bit, 192bit, 256bit, 320bit, 384bit or more X ram speed should get benefit for gsdx.
Notebook ASUS A43TA|CPU AMD Llano APU A6-3400m Triple core (1 core disable) OC to 2.6+Ghz|GPU CF|HD 6520 400Mhz/667Mhz iGPU|HD6650M OC 780Mhz/985Mhz dGPU|RAM 8GB DDR3 1333|Windows 7 Ultimate Sp.1 x64 bit.

Its worse, infact it'll perform worse in pcsx2 than the phenom 1s did.

I'm intrigued (no not fuming mad lol) to hear about Nvidia surpassing AMD GPU's when it comes to PCSX2, like it's by a HUGE margin.
I would like to see test results based on these comments, seems as I have no means of trying and seeing this for myself.
When I say this, I mean two GPU's of a similar spec. Not one Nvidia card 2 years ahead of an older AMD and vice versa

I'm awaiting my custom built Alienware m18x laptop that includes these specs:
Quote:Processor
Intel® Core™ i7 2920XM Overclocked Turbo Boost to 4.0GHz (8MB Cache)

Video Card
Dual 2GB GDDR5 AMD Radeon™ HD 6990M - AMD CrossFireX™

Hard Drive
Corsair Force Series GT SSD 240GB SATA III

But I'm hoping the 6990m doesn't disappoint for general emulation use, especially for PCSX2Tongue

I'm no GPU fan boy, but when buying that m18x it was either between:
Dual 6990m CrossFireX for $500
OR
Dual 580m SLI for a ridiculous $1200

After reading up on the performance on these two cards (not that much difference between the two!), common sense told me to go AMD all the way (in this case). Price being the major factor. Otherwise I'd usually go Nvidia.
Anyways hoping the 6990 does wonders for me on PCSX2!Happy
Alienware m18x (space black anodized aluminum):
Intel® Core™ i7 2920XM @ 4.0GHz

Corsair Force GT 240GB SSD
Kingston HyperX 16GB memory @ 1600mhz
Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit

Bulldozer sacrifices Float performance for integer as the first step towards Trinity APU's (with the on die gpu acting as the FPU)

Well, yeah knew that from all the reading on tech forum, but I'm not familiar with pcsx2, so is it really heavy with floating point operation?
