Save States and Hotkeys

Is there a way i can tell what save state i have prompted at any given time? For instance; epsxe has a mini window with a # to let you know what save state you would be saving/loading. I find this to be critical information.

In lieu of that, is there a way for me to change the hotkeys?

Found the answer to one of my questions. Saved state # is in the top left on the game screen, where the fps and the like are. I will call that my info bar.

Still, remapping the hotkeys would be useful. Has anyone had success with this?
