Shadow The Hedgehog: Audio won't sync in cutscenes, but works fine everywhere else

This issue is only presenting itself in the in-engine cutscenes, audio is in sync during gameplay and everything else. For these cutscenes, the audio doesn't seem noticeably slower and the game is playing at 100% speed according to the emulator, yet the cutscene visuals run slightly ahead of the audio and cut off the audio when the visuals end before the audio can.

Strangely, I've found it works absolutely fine on my old version of PCSX2 (1.5.0) but on the current version I'm using (1.7.5550) the problem presents itself on both the EU and US versions of the game. Since it works fine on a much older version, I'm hoping that this is simply an issue with my settings and that someone might have some advice? I checked the faqs but couldn't see anything for audio sync issues that only occur during cutscenes
