Should I be able to run this?
#1
So I've noticed that with my older PC, PCSX2 runs a lot faster. But after upgrading to the latest version and purchasing a gaming laptop, it's very very sluggish.

Here are my PC specs:

Processor: Intel® Core™ i5-4210U CPU @ 1.70GHz 2.40 GHZ
Installed memory (RAM): 6.00GB (5.89 usable)
System Type: 64-bit Operating System, x64-based processor
Graphics: Nvidia GeForce 820M
Asus Touchscreen Laptop/tablet
Windows 8.1

This laptop runs recent games with ease, just not this apparently.

My PCSX2 settings: PCSX2 1.1.2 (I think that's it? It's the most recent official build.)
GSdx 0 (MSVC 18.00, AVX2) 0.1.16 [gsdx32-avx2-r5875]
Renderer: Direct3D9 Hardware (software works the same, D9 and D11, no change.)
Native Checked. Texture Filtering, Logarithmic Z, Allow 8-Bit textures and Alpha correction all checked, nothing else checked.

Sound:
SPU2-X r5830 2.0.0 [spu2-x-r5875]
Interpolation: 0 - Nearest
Disable Effects Processing
Module: 1 - XAudio 2 (recomended) Synchronizing Mode Timestretch (Recommended)

Games Tried:
Xenosaga - slow intro video, sluggish movement.
Dot Hack GU Part 1 - Sluggish intro song.

With my now-defective laptop, with Xenosaga, the intro video was crisp, the movements were fluid, but there was an easily-fixable sound sync issue.

With Dot Hack, there were no problems, except minor videos being sluggish.

Are there any tips?

This is the wrong subforum.

But still, it should... update your drivers?

Everything at default?
Moe: [to Homer] And I'm pulling your favorite song out of the jukebox.
Homer: "It's Raining Men"?!
Moe: Yeah, not no more, it ain't. [throws the record out the window which lands into Smithers' car]
Smithers: Ow! [looks at the record] Ohhh.

what would ;e; do

True, but at least I got some answers. They ignored me at the Ngemu forums.

Really? But I could play it quite well. The second one ran even better.

For comparison, can you also post the hardware specs of your previous pc ? And, from what I've gathered xenosaga seems to be a very demanding game.

Marge, yes, drivers are updated and everything is default.

My previous laptop: Lenovo G505s
AMD A10-5750M Quad Core APU, 2.5GHz processor
8GB DDR3-1600 MHz RAM
1TB HDD, 5400 RPM hard drive
15.6” HD LED backlight widescreen display
Integrated DVD/RW drive
Wireless: 802.11b/g/n
AccuType keyboard
Integrated 720p HD webcam
Integrated Stereo speakers with Dolby Advanced Audio certification
Up to 5 hours of battery life
Dimensions: 14.96”(L) x 10.23”(W) x 1.02”(D) (5.29 lbs.)
Windows 8.1

This also worked better on my 8 year old desktop as well with ATI Radeon HD 3200 graphics..

still, Xenosaga will be a little hard for your laptop to play. you should try some low demanding games to get good performance Smile

Please listen.

Xenosaga ran perfectly for me, with some very minor bugs.
Dot Hack G.U. ran perfectly for me, just with some minor bugs.
I do not believe this is just a game problem. I believe if it were a game that was the least demanding it would have the same effect.

The STP of your AMD A10-5750M is 1121 whereas, the STP of your Intel Core i5-4210U is 1472. that's why the one with the Intel processor ran better.

There's no way to make your AMD A10-5750M processor play that game well without any decent Single threaded performance. better keep playing it on your desktop.

The Lenovo laptop, as mentioned before, is defunct.
The AMD desktop is a last resort, but thanks..
