Slowdowns since upgrading to Windows 7/DX10

So the question I pose is this: Is it possible that the BETA speedhack settings(which are enabled/disabled) are stored in the same place that the official release settings are? The reason I ask is because I noticed that when running the beta all my speedhacks were off(I had been experimenting with it earlier). I don't know if its stored in an *.INI file or in the windows registry which is why I ask.
...
afaik all current plugins store their settings in ini-files. i think bositman stated that some older revisions of gsdx or zerogs stored their settings in the windows registry. but not anymore. and to avoid any complications with newer revisions it is recommended to delete the respective inis directly after upgrading your plugins/emulator.

oh and glad to hear that your win7/dx10 problems are more or less "fixed" Laugh

I have the Windows 7 RC and I noticed the exact same slowdown issues that the guy is having. For me, it had to do with the task bar (I think because the start menu button was hanging over the top). If I auto-hide the task bar or change it to the big icons so the start menu button doesn't hang over the task bar, the slowdown goes away.

Of course, I don't have a DX10 card Blush, so it might be something else.

ya its weird FoolRunin. I've just given up on 0.9.6 and sticking with the beta. I guess I will just fullscreen to have a larger viewing area.

Its not a game breaker entirely, but the slowdown is definitely noticeable from the switch, who can say what is causing it though, it doesnt really make sense. Kinda makes me just want to go out and buy a new ps2, but I like being able to use cheats.

Its Strange, i'm trying the W7 Beta atm from xp, and every game i have played including FFX has had a noticable fps increase in most cases. Though its still slow as hell whenever i summon Shiva xD (as low as 15~40 fps Wacko)

under vista64 my minimum fps during the shiva summon is 50 (dx10) and 25 (dx9), all at 1920x1080 int res. pretty big difference.

Now not sure if this'll help but I'm pretty sure I read an entry with someone else having the same problem and the solution was as easy as pie.

Simply don't maximize your windows, make them full screen. That is, hit alt+enter (after configuring full screen settings in the gfx plugin) instead of clicking the maximize button.

Odd perhaps but I recall the guy with the problem found that solution worked out and personally I've never had any slow downs running vista 64 regardless of screen rez or aspect ratio as long as I'm in fullscreen mode.

Hmm...
Did you try the obvious solution?
Just hit alt+enter for fullscreen, instead of maximizing the window.

I used vista before (now win7), and in budokai tenkaichi3 I would hit the maximize button an it would drop to 40 fps from 60, but by hitting alt+enter it goes fullscreen with full 60fps, no loss of performance at all and the same quality of the image.

I have a 5770, and Windows 7 x64. DX10 gives me lots of weird slowdowns that DX9 doesn't. All movies (tested between FFX, FFXII, Persona 3 FES, VF4) run at 70% speed, and in-game speed will randomly drop to 70% as well, for seemingly no reason. EE will be sitting at 50 or 60%, and GS never goes above 20%, but the framerate will be sitting at 40-42. Switch to DX9, no slowdown at all, at the same capacity. Is this a Win7 issue, or a DX11-gen ATI card issue?

Note that the same performance hits occur in both windowed and full-screen (honest full-screen, not maximized), regardless of window size or internal resolution. DX internal res doesn't affect performance at all, whether it's set at 640x480 or 2240x1260, with or without AA. Drivers downloaded today, ditto to DX.

You didn't provide any kind of settings or relevant info, also you seem to be using an unofficial build so don't expect much support with it Tongue
