Just installed Windows Vista Home Premium on my lap, tried FFX, and full of slowdowns even with all visual effects disabled! What's going on?? This really worries me...

Try set priority to HIGH and see what happen and make sure that you are not use DX 10 mode in Gsdx. Most times DX 10 more slower then DX 9.

Did you set your energy consumption to performance?

However, FFX-2 and ROE4 seem to work normally, at least ROE4 works wonderfully better with 2.4 GHz than 1.8 GHz. But is a freeze near the beginning, when trying to open the door of the house to go outside again, normal?

By the way, about FFX, this didn't happen when I had Vista Basic...

It gives speed boost in some games like XenoSaga Ep 1, in others it doesn't make any diference in speed but GSDX dx10 Hardware has almost always less graphic glitches, i don't think theres games that are slower in pcsx2 in dx10, it has nothing to do with pc games on dx10.

Changing to GSDX dx10 solved the slowdowns (in general)! Mm... This is strange, this means that with dx9 mode in Vista Basic it didn't give trouble, but with Premium it does? I'm getting 45-50 fps during battles, but the Auron: Look! freeze won't quit!!

FFX-2 remains as fast as it was with C2D 1.8... except for a little fps increase in FMV's... By the way, and the ROE4 door freeze?

By the way, is it dangerous to enable all speed hacks?? With all of them activated the listed games give a significant fps boost, although it makes me feel like I'm discrediting or dishonoring my processor...

I've had Grandia III slow down in DX10 mode but that could be more related to me having a gen1 DX10 card then DX10 itself

Im absolutery sure. In Persona 3 FES DX 10 mode slower on 30 fps then DX 9, for example. In Grandia 3 DX 10 mode slower on 3-5 fps then DX9 etc... And yeah, for some games like Xenosaga series, FF7-DoC etc... its faster.
Make sure that you have EIST, C1E function disabled for C2D processors in BIOS and as said before, check your energy consumption.

Try disabling Aero.

For some reason on my HD4850, playing SO3 with Aero enabled makes the GPU usage go to 99% in some areas (ie: causing slowdowns) with GSDX10, but with it disabled the GPU usage only goes to about 30%, 50% at most.
