So, how close are we to 1.0?
#1
I've been checking in since 2006, and now I see that 0.9.9 is out.

Also, my two favorite games - Tekken 4 and God of War are finally working.

So, I'm wondering.. how far are we from 1.0? And will it mean 100% compatibility?

If not, when will PCSX2 be "finished"?

P.S. Does PCSX2 support Quad-Cores yet?

The rules state that they don't know when the next version will be released. But it seems very near now.

No console emulators are able to achieved 100% compatibility. Arcade emulators are, however, since they only have 10 - 15 games each. But if game devs continue releasing games for that arcade machine, the 100% compatibility is surely broken.

When the devs lose interest and leave the project. Mellow

Not yet. And afaik it's unlikely in the future. Tripple core is supported however.

100% compatibility is nigh impossible.

Even PlayStation 1 emulators don't boast that; and they've had over 15 years.

CLEARLY, You haven't used Xebra, or Arbex yet.Happy

I've been able to run stuff perfectly on Xebra and Arbex that no matter what the setting, every other emulator has had problems or issues with.

Plus it looks like you are playing on the actual console, it feels so good.

Xebra is possibly the best PS1 emulator than PSX 1.13 and ePSXe. Definitely give Xebra a try.

Even Xebra isn't entirely perfect though. One of the hardest to emulate games is "The Misadventures of Tron Bonne", the megaman legends spinoff. No emulator can run it, not even the PSP/PS3 official ones. But Xebra can! ...but it has a loading issue, resulting in weird 2-3 second pauses when pausing, and at various other points in the game. Beats not working, I suppose.

Well I wanted to make a different question/pointout about the same case though.
Let's say that 1.0 gets released. Compared to the last 0.9 SVN/Nighty build what would be the difference that would worthly make it a stable/main release?
I'm so satisfied by the SVN repository submittions that an actual release wouldn't make me feel any change or give me any hype since I doubt anything super-drastic or crazy would be added compared to the last SVN of the previous version and all that because PCSX2 team are super-awesome, they constantly work and all that for the public.
Are there features that they don't get implemeted on SVN/Nightly builds till they get polished for a major release? I don't know how this works and I'm not sure it was ever cleared up.
