Speedhacks doesn't generate any serious issues in this game except occassional EE Cyclerate blocking cutscenes, it can still be passed by turning this speedhack off when it happens. Enable fast CDVD speedhack breaks also sounds after fight, couse they don't have time to fade, but it's nothing serious.
On the other hand this game doesn't store values in any simple way, soo using cheats even some "harmless" ones ends in seeing such "blackscreen" with music still playing. Soo if you are using cheats save the game whenever you can in normal way or disable those you don't really need. Turning them off for a savestate a bit before the blackscreen part could help too. I play SO with some cheats, but actually I have only one activated - to not waste items on inventing(that's the part of this game I like the mostTongue) which didn't broke anything yet for me and I did passed that scene already.

I know for a fact that VU cycle steal at least tends to break cutscene timing, causing hangs.

Well maybe I just didn't noticed, EE cycle stops any input(or breaks timing? anyway can't pass dialoques) only in few cutscenes, but turning it off even after it happens fixes it. VU cycle set as 3 is a very nice speedup in this game, soo I have it on all the time and got no irritating or serious issues as of yet maybe with both of them activated it's still synchronized? ;O I'm just a few scenes after Fayt releases his power to destroy veendeni ship, soo maybe more blocked cutscenes await me still, hopefully it can be passed by turning those speedhacks off too, and I save normally whenever I can to keep it safe.

And here I am again with another Star Ocean 3 blackscreen problem. >_<
I'm not sure if i should make another thread for this or not because the end result is the same, but the solution must be different this time.

Okay, the following happens:
I'm playing the optional dungeon "Aquatic Gardens of Surferio" and I'm right before the third riddle room, where you have to move some boxes around. This room has two entrances - but no matter from which side I try to enter it, the screen turns black, the music is still playing on forever and nothing happens anymore.

Here is what I already tried:
Deactivated all Speed hacks (used preset 1) and restarted pcsx2. Then I've loaded the game way before I entered the room. But I still get this annoying blackscreen.

As far as I know there should be no cutscene occuring in this room so I'm rather clueless about what to do. -.-

Does anyone have an idea besides skipping this optional dungeon? (I really want to complete as much of this great game as possible, so this would only be my last possible course of action.)

Cheers,
Tynian

I tried SDL 1.3 (Software) but the problem stays the same.
I use preset 1 because I thought with that all speedhacks would be deactivated. Is that wrong?

Should I post the console log, my machine specs or a screenshot of some settings? Just name it and it will be done. ^-^

Is it possible, that something is wrong with the game image because one time my PC crashed while playing?

1.) With Preset 1 the checkbox for activating speedhacks is deactivated (click here for a screenshot) so this should do, right?

2.) I made a new image of my dvd but the problem is still the same. -.-

3.) Here is the console log:
