Star Ocean 3 speed
#1
Hey guys, pretty new here. Just downloaded the pcsx2 yesterday and spent a hell of a lot of time playing around with the config just to play this game, star ocean 3 [NTSC]. I can't seem to get past 2x-4x framerate on this game however, and it's annoying me. What are your recommendations?

Comp specs:
Processor: AMD Athlon Neo X2 Dual Core Processor L335 1.60 GHz
RAM: 3.00 GB
64-bit operating system
GPU: ATI Radeon HD 3200 (yes I know it sucks but I can't get any better at the moment)

PCSX2 specs:
currently using PCSX2 beta r1888, tried PCSX2 0.9.6
gsdx 1873 SSE2 0.1.15 (0.1.16 runs at same speed, 0.1.7 doesn't work, tried different resolutions, tried software rendering, native helps a bit, currently using direct3D10 hardware)
zerospu2 r1455 0.4.6 (sound is terrible though)
Gamefix for tri-ace games checked
Frame Limiting at 60 FPS Limit (frame skipping messes up graphics)
MicroVU0 and 1 checked (doesn't seem to affect speed though)
EERec, VU0Rec, VU1rec, MTGS all checked
Clamp modes none
all speed hacks on (without these the game is even slower)

Btw does the bios I use for PCSX2 affect the speed at all? Because I'm using a 2004 one.

Thanks a lot for reading! Hopefully I can get this game running at a more playable speed.

demanding game, slow cpu (1.6ghz is weak for pcsx2)
Quote:all speed hacks on
will break games... don't enable all.

thanks. however I tried taking off speed hacks one by one but it didn't really help any.
off-topic, but do you think I'll run FFX just as slow as well?

your cpu is very slow for emulations, u will not get full speed with almost any game.... u can try some of the "low-end" games, u c an find a thread at the general discussion
OS: Win 7 Ultimate x64 sp1, MoBo: Asus P5QD Turbo, CPU: Q6600 @ 3,0Ghz, RAM: Trancend 2x2gb 6-6-6-18 800 MHz, GPU: HD 4850 1gb.
Pcsx2: Always Latest
