Star Wars Battlefront II black sky
#1
Hi guys. I need help in configuring my plugins for SWBF2. When I use software mode, it runs smoothly but the sky textures are missing, it's just black. But when I use hardware mode, it fixes the graphics problem but greatly reduces the FPS down to 20-22. Doesn't matter which plugin I use OpenGL, Direct3D9 or Direct3D11, they all result to the same problem.

I've also searched for this problem before and some people seem to have their problems fixed just buy switching to software mode without lowering their FPS.

Here are my specs: (using a laptop btw)

 - Intel Core i5-6300HQ CPU @ 2.30GHz (4CPUs), ~ 2.3GHz
 - NVIDIA GeForce GTX 950M
 - 4096MB Ram
 - Windows 10 64-bit

I'm using PCSX2 1.4.0, with no non default settings. Switching to preset 2 or 3, depending when my laptop is plugged in or not.

If it helps, I've already finished RE: Code Veronica X with no emulation problems. I've tried playing Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance II and I'm experiencing some fps drops but not much--about 80% at most, usually when I access the menu but it plays fine. Other games that work with no problems include Dark Cloud, Obscure and Castlevania: Lament of Innocence.

software mode is a bit too intensive for your CPU.
try :
- setting your power plan to high performance
- playing when your laptop isn't running on batteries
- setting extra rendering threads to 3

don't expect miracles, though.
your STP is a bit below 1700, and running this game in software mode would require at least around 1900 to prevent slowdowns
CPU : AMD Ryzen 7 3800X
Mobo : Asus PRIME B450-PLUS
GPU : NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070
RAM : 16 Go

Hi jesalvein, thanks for the quick reply. May I ask what is STP? And if I'm going to use a software plugin, which one would you recommend that I use?

Single Thread Performance
D3D11 or OGl doesn't make any difference if used in software mode

Oh, I see. Well, I guess I won't be playing it with this laptop anytime soon. Thanks for your input mate, much appreciated.
