Read first: Will PCSX2 run fast on my computer?
Quote:First the turbo boost values you show will NOT apply for PCSX2, since these are the frequencies the processor will have when only 1 core is active, while PCSX2 uses 2
For turbo-bust i5 series scheme is +1/2*133 at any mode, so if there is enough power and thermal values are normal, speed would boosted to +1*133 (in dual-core) or 2*133 (in single-core). By the way, number of cores for turbo-bust is only high limitation scheme -- it does not guarantee anyway.

BFG - NVIDIA GeForce 8400 GS 512MB DDR2 PCI Express Graphics Card - is this going to be good?

No, that's a really weak card. You'd want at least a 9600GT.

Please tell me if this will be enough:

- Intel Core 2 Duo i5-430M 2.53Ghz w/ 3MB L3 Cache
- 4GB DDR3 RAM
- NVIDIA GeForce GTS 360M
w/ 1GB GDDR5 discrete and up to 1274MB dynamically allocated shared

I'm guessing the GPU will be enough but the CPU I'm not sure. Will the i5 technology make the difference needed? Will this CPU be able to Over-Clock well enough? And the most important question: Is this my best bet if I can't afford much more than $1000?

Thanks in advance.

with that processor you'll need to use speedhacks to get 60 fps. unfortunately, it may introduce graphical artifacts or crash pcsx2. i have a q6600 @ 2.4ghz cpu plus ati 5700 dx11 card and it can barely do 15 fps - 30 fps without speedhacks. i can get up to 40 fps - 60 fps with a ton of speedhacks enabled but it makes pcsx2 very unstable.

from pcsx2 faq:

Recommended
* Windows Vista / Windows 7 32bit/64bit
* CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo @ 3.2ghz or better
* GPU: 8600gt or better
* 1gb RAM (2gb if on Vista / Windows 7)

intel i7 960 quad @3.2GHz currently costs $589.99.
intel i5 650 dual @3.2GHz currently costs $189.99.
amd phenom II X4 955 @3.2GHz currently costs $165.99.
amd phenom II X4 965 @3.4GHz currently costs $189.00. <-- holy mutha! Ohmy

So, from what I've been reading, the clock speed means the most. A Core 2 Duo 3.00Ghz will do better than a Core 2 Quad 2.40Ghz. 'Cause if I'm not mistaken, that ATI 5700 would be good, if not great. Then again, I know very little about ATI, and not much more about PCSX2...yet! Smile

Looking to see if anything minor can be changed to improve FPS when playing games.

PC Rig
-Intel Core 2 Duo CPU 6400 @ 2.13GHz (No overclock. Too scared)
-nVidia GeForce 8800 GTS GPU (No overclock)
-2 Gigabytes of memory
-Windows XP 32-Bit Professional SP3

PSCX2 0.9.6 Settings
Configuration Box
Graphics Settings
Cdvdrom
CPU Settings
Speed Hacks Settings
Advanced Options Settings

Thanks if you took the time to look at the screenshots.

Try the latest public beta first; that should give you a bit of a speed increase. Otherwise, overclocking your CPU should also help, even if only by a few hundred Mhz (it won't explode).

What's going on everyone? I'm new here.

I had the 955 clocked to 3.8ghz - couldn't get any higher stably. So now I have the 965 to get me to 4.0ghz.

My questions:

1_/) Would it be a significant difference going from 3.8ghz to 4.0ghz? (Will I see a noticeable difference in intensive games, such as tekken)

2_/) From what I understand intel cpus get more speed because of the SSE4 or whatever it was, is it that much of a speed increase to get an intel cpu over an amd?

My setup:
CPU - Phenom II 965 (125watt)
CPU Cooler - Megahalem
Motherboard - Gigabyte UD5P
Ram - 4gb DDR3 Gskill ram (1333mhz)
GPU - Evga GTX 280
PSU - Corsair 850watt

Looking to see if i can play some games on my laptop. I was wondering if anyone can tell me if this config will be workable (yes i know, weak specs + laptop are not preferable but I'd like to try)

Core 2 T6570 @ 2.1Ghz
4 GB RAM
Nvidia 256mb 9300M GS
Windows 7 64bit

I'm looking to play FFX, Persona 4, Odin Sphere (given the slow downs on a normal system i have my doubts about this), and Xenosaga III.

Any input, suggestions into configs would be appreciated! Thanks!
