Stuck in Final Fantasy X: Circle key not working anymore
#1
Hi,

I'm stuck at the very beginning of Final Fantasy X (International Version). Sin is destroying Zanarkand. Auron and Tidus get sucked into Sin. After they got sucked in, I hear two "Hey" and Tidus says something about "my old man?" and wakes up. The game tells me: "Circle: Go down." The problem is: "Circle" (which is bound to "l" (small L)) is not working. I can use the other keys to make Tidus swim around, but I cannot make him go down. The key worked before (I had to use "Circle" during battles, I think). But suddenly, it does not work anymore.

As that is at the beginning of the game, I have no savepoint, yet. But it takes some time getting to where I'm stuck, I can therefore not simply start a new game. It just takes too much time. I have made some saves with the "Save state" function of PCSX2, but loading them does not help. Binding "Circle" to other keys does not help, either.

I've already searched for that problem and found a lot of post about all kinds of other problems, but none about my problem. Can anyone help?

If you need more information, just tell me what you need. :-) Here are the first few lines from the log:

This doesn't perfectly answer your question, but I have a save immediately after with Tidus in the Baaj ruins. Use MyMC to re-import into your mem card.

well that's one way of solving his problems, but if still the op is interested on doing this by his own, he could try changing the pad plugin settings and re-checking the game at various places of parts whether o works or not, if still the problem is there then, it's better to rip again....

I had the same problem before at an even earlier part of the game. After starting a completely new game, the problem was gone. But only to reappear at the location mentioned above. I'm worried, if I find no general solution, it will just keep reappearing at later parts of the game. :-(

I already tried changing the input mapping and binding "Circle" to "q" for example. But it didn't help. I also loaded a save from before the last fight. During the fight, I had to use "Circle" to confirm my attacks, I think. Which means the button worked. The fight also went a little differently (the enemies did different attacks for example) from the first time. But I still got stuck the same way at the same location.

Besides that, PCSX2 is really good. All other problems (terribly broken sound, bad graphics, lags, ...) I could solve with googling this forum. But that one problem remains... I'll see if using the save from above helps or if I get stuck later. But it's a bit risky, as it would suck if I would get stuck halfway through the game, just when it got interesting. ;-)

That strange, did you enable some speedhack/gamefix?

I'm having the exact same problem in 1.4.0 with my PS2 controller however it works fine with my ps3 controller. It is possible that I did not have the circle button mapped.
