Sudden performance drop on Windows 8 - system update
#1
Hi all,

Hoping someone can help me.

I've so far invested 30 hours in a game of FFXII (patched International Zodiac Job System).

I've generally been getting good FPS from my rig (~60). However, on start up today that has fallen to 25-30 FPS. I haven't changed a single setting in the plugins or general emulation settings.

I thought it may be a system update as one completed during boot-up. However after uninstalling all the recent updates, I still find myself getting 25-30 FPS.

Does anyone have any ideas regarding what I can do? Really desperate to finish the game!

Laptop stats:
i5 CPU @ 2.5 ghz
8GB RAM
Geforce GTX 66M (2GB dedicated)
Windows 8 64 bit

Thanks!

Sometimes updates reset your power management settings. Recheck to make sure you are in high performance mode.

Install Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 if not done yet ,then update DirectX. http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/...aspx?id=35
If you updating DirectX then installing Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 ,some DirectX components will be not updated.
Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 disabled by default ,security risk .
In Control Panel, choose Programs and Features, choose Turn Windows features on or off, and then select the Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5.1 check box.
Also video drivers for Windows 8 not very good optimized. Slight FPS drop in 3D applications normal issue.
Need to wait some time for good drivers.
