Suikoden 5 loading issues
#1
So after about five days of working really well, playing Suikoden 5 on my PC has become a nightmare. Whenever it tries to load just about anything, it essentially stops functioning at all. The EE and GS %s drop to zero and my disk drive actually starts to do less work that usual, barely making a reading/spinning sound every 10-15 seconds as opposed to the normal, consistent reading noises.

I've avoided changing any of my settings after I had it running nice and smoothly, ie. turning on MTVU and software mode to fix the graphical bugs. Turning off software mode doesn't seem to have an effect, and I'm not sure what else I could experiment with in order to solve the problem. I'm not even sure how issues like this arise suddenly after days and days of proper functionality, but this is the situation in which I currently find myself.

If you are loading from savestates you should not, try loading from the memory card.

Every time you load a savestate any bug in memory gets reloaded, load from the memory card instead Smile .

In any case it would be better to extract the content of the disk into an iso using imgburn.

Can you please provide the emulog.txt located in my documents/pcsx2/ or in the program directory in /logs/?

Yeah, I've been using the actual save as much as I can, and it's been working pretty well so far. Sadly, the problem shows up regardless of which method I use to load my game.

Yeah, definitely. Personally, I'd like to do as much diagnostic work as I can before resorting to ripping the disk. Seeing as I'm not sure what the issue even is, I can't be certain that would fix it. I mean, it's been working up until yesterday by running off the actual DVD, so I'm sure it can start working again.

It's highly recommended that you make an iso of your disk as that could very well solve your problem.

Yeah, that's the impression I'm getting. I was really hoping to get this thing solved, but it doesn't look like that'll happen.

Edit: Alright, I'm going to have to rip my game in order to play it. However, I'd still like to know what kind of issue would cause a game to drop all processor/GPU load to zero and take an unreasonable amount of time reading data from a disk. And also why a problem like this would show up out of nowhere on a previously functional game.

Scratched disk or faulty DVD Rom I guess.
