Swapping internal and external HDD...
#1
I'm thinking of switching out my WDC 600GB for an old MyBook 1TB - good idea? Anything I should know before digging in?

Any particular reason? Just make sure they're the same size and that it's compatible with your mother board.

Oh right I completely forgot about the size issue :/ Guess that's that... I just wanted more space on the PC without buying another drive, I have like 10 externals

You could buy an internal hard drive next time, externals are made larger because it's expected that they'll be thrown around and there's really no reason to make them smaller.

Most likely both, the 600GB and the 1TB drives, will be the same physical size (3.5 inch).
So swapping them should be no issue unless there's a connector difference (doubt it).

The bigger problem would be cloning the OS to the new drive, I guess.

lol I was JUST wondering how to clone OS's. Do you happen to know? =p I want to add an SSD and make it my boot drive but I don't want to reinstall all of my stuff.

Check out the drive manufacturer's website, they normally offer a basic version of Acronis or similar for the purpose of migrating your data to a new drive.
