Whats wrong with using DirectX 11? Or software mode? Admittedly ps2gameman could have been clear on why he chose that renderer, but unless there are specific issues, I don't see why OpenGL should be the only renderer people use.

added opengl software mode dunno why you want that directx11 is so much faster then opengl

hardware mode some games run slow hasent been midimapped so you saying refraction best to test hardware mode first

Yes, test hardware mode first and if there are problems with it, explain those in your test results. Try to test both Direct3D11 and OpenGL if you can, especially if you're having problems. The low speed is probably due to your GT 430 graphics card, however it shouldn't be terrible in "native" resolution I would suspect.
