Tales of the Abyss Ghosting/FPS drop/Sound problems
#1
Setup: http://img35.imageshack.us/img35/695/unt...dfsdfd.jpg

I tried using GSdx 883 as well, and all types of resolutions, dx9 and dx10 etc no dice. Not using any speed hacks.

So the game never freezes or crashes (yet) but I have ghosting: http://img442.imageshack.us/img442/3716/35785008.png

Also if I use SPU2-X for sound, all but footsteps, menu sounds, battle initiation sounds, and some cutscene sounds don't work. If I use the ZeroSPU2 plugin, all but most cutscene sounds and some battle sounds don't work.

Any ideas on other plugins I could use or something? This is one of two games I got to work and I can't play it like this :-/

Check the Native box for D3D internal resolution to fix the ghosting.

I'm not sure about the sound issue. Hopefully someone who has the game will give you more help on that.

That fixed the ghosting but then the resolution is very low and it looks terrible; jagged edges everywhere :-/

Thank you though. Also, for your q6600, what are your settings for voltages? I can't keep mine stable above 3.2 GHz.

Yes, well, ghosting can be a side effect of running higher than native resolution. Try setting an internal res that is exactly double the native, ie if the native is 512x448, then set the internal res to 1024x896. That can sometimes either greatly reduce or eliminate ghosting for some games.

The latest GSDx revisions allow for an anti-aliasing option that you can add into the ini settings, you might try that.

Here are my full bios settings for my overclock:

Some things to keep in mind:
I have a XFX 680i LT motherboard, which is one that is built for doing overclocking. Your motherboard may not be and therefore might not handle or even have some of those settings.

Also, I have one of the G0 stepping Q6600s which are better overclockers than other revisions of the processor. Check with CPU-Z or PC Wizard to see if you have a G0 as well.

Thanks, but that didn't work at all... Any other ideas?

Alright, this worked!

Now to fix the audio issue..I'll try some other plug-ins in the meantime, but if anyone has a working one for them, telling me would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Does anyone jnow where I can find newer versions of ZeroSPU2 sound plugin? I search all over, can't find it. I wish I could combine them...I lose world map music, combat initiating sounds and menu sounds in SPU2 1.10 and 1.2 :-/
