Not all that long ago I had notified several members of the pcsx2 team about an attachment on the website that was being detected as a virus. Of course I knew it was a false positive and just recently there was another attachment that had the same detection. The attachments in question were of nothing important and could have very easily been removed hence removing any detections from pcsx2.net which would have been the smart thing to do. But they chose not to. So how can anyone expext the emulator to be clean of false positives when they can't even keep they're own website clean?

Please keep in mind I'm not being disrespectful at all. That's just my way of making the point.

It's not something that the pcsx2 team needs to manage. It's the fault of the virus scanners being way too sensitive.

Avast acknowledged it was a problem on THEIR side the last time this happened. This isn't the first time a mass false positive occurred for pcsx2 as you're already aware. And generally if you report the issue to Avast they will resolve it with a definition update. (The most recent event of this was the padnull.dll issue).

The newer versions maybe. But Avast 7.0 is still one of my favorite AVs.

AVG and ***** are total trash compared to Avast.

Avast is king compared to AVG, Avast has gotten more resource heavy since i started using it though. plus some questionable decisions.

Yeah, that's why I'm not a fan of the newer versions. It just digs too deep into the system. Which unfortunately is the case with a lot of AV. (Norton is a perfect example of that. 'Norton Antivirus 2003 Pro' for example, before it became the crappy Internet Security 2004 and beyond, was really good. But when the new versions were coming out, it just screwed up your system.

Kaspersky was great, but this too digs way too deep in the system now. Of course you can control most of it still, but it's just more trouble than it's worth.

For that reason I'm using Avast 7.0.1474 still, (it's the last 7.0 version before moving to 8.x), purely because it's a simple version, no strings attached, doesn't do too much, and doesn't hog your system.

Just uninstall Avast and find the other anti-virus

I have never used avast and I never will, honestly defender in win10 is more than adequate. If you know what you are doing you don't even need antivirus honestly... but for your average joe sure Tongue

Not in any recent virusscanner test I've seen. It's not as bad as it used to be, but it's not "more than adequate". Certainly not for the average joe.

It's all in what you do with your computer and where you go on the web. I can't count on my fingers and toes how many computers I have been brought that are infested from people torrenting from god knows where or porn sites or bunk streaming sites or whatever. I don't know what you do in your free time but defender has been adequate for me Tongue
