Because I'm torn between a GTX 260 and a 4870, which are nearly identical in performance.

The ATI 3xxx series cards are known to have speed and performance issues on many games. The 4xxx series are largely unaffected by the same issue.

That clears a lot of things up, thanks a lot!

If there are any more things that affect the fps other than what was said, feel free to add for future reference.

Oops my bad. I was referring to the GTX 260 the entire post.

I think you'll need to upgrade your system if yo want a more faster cPU and you'll need to increase you RAM.
If nothing happens there mus be an another option guys.
