Wow, I just tried 4048x4048 in FFX and...it runs perfectly smooth without speed hacks or so ?! However the imagequality wasn't particulary better either, compared to my standard 1280x1024. Am I doing something wrong or why does it seem to have no effect?

It's usually more difficult to notice a difference at that resolutions in some games, however if you're using the beta GSdx and using a scaling or native resolution it won't change (needs to be 1x). Also even if it runs fine i some places it doesn't mean it will thru the game, for example casting Demi with that resolution should kill the FPS in almost all cards.

Hmmm, not sure what to say. Maybe you screen isn't "high quality" enough for that resolution(?). If you see no difference, but the speed is fine... No offense, but 4096x4096 is BEAUTIFUL for me.

Are you saying you have a perfectly stable 60fps? Guess it's cause that 3.5Ghz your CPU is at, but I would've thought this to be more GPU demanding...

After a quick look, you GPU is much better than mine. 100Mhz more in core and memory clocks, and double the bus width and pipelines/shaders. Your's is about the equivalent of a GeForce GTX 260M. Definitely much better. Smile

nah there is no way he can hit that resolution with that gpu and get 60fps. he maybe did something wrong thats the reason he didnt see any difference. also the bigger the monitor you have the better results you will see in image quality. if you got a 17'' monitor you will see small differences but if you got 26'' then you will see crazy difference Tongue

That resolution is very demanding tried it on a friend's cpu in DBZ Budokai Tenkaichi 3(Dat's all I ever Play) and the FPS dropped from 80-85 (NO Frame Limit) to about 25-30 but the graphics are awesome somehow I think this beats (PS3) DBZ Raging blast's resolution too Wink but anyways it's an overkill since the temperatures were too high

If you're using an LCD then you only have 1 resolution - the screen's native resolution. Changing the resolution doesn't actually do anything but force your graphics card to fit whatever weird res you selected into the available actual resolution of your screen - which never changes. You should always use your screens native resolution and boost AA for improving visual resolution.

The resolution described in the OP is cinema 4k and I think the only displays that support that are $50,000. Don't even have to factor the video card or computer into it, you can stop right there.
