Recommended requirements state that you need a dual core.
I think your short on ram to be running it in Vista too.

Quote:System Requirements
Minimum
Windows/Linux OS
CPU: Any that supports SSE2 (Pentium 4 and up, Athlon64 and up)
GPU: Any that supports Pixel Shader model 2.0, except Nvidia FX series (broken SM2.0, too slow anyway)
512mb RAM (note Vista needs at least 2gb to run reliably)
Recommended
Windows Vista 32bit/64bit with the latest DirectX
CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo @ 3.2ghz or better
GPU: 8600gt or better (for Direct3D10 support)
RAM: 1gb on Linux/Windows XP, 2gb or more on Vista

and Vista with only 1gb, and probably you don't have a graphic card that support Dx10 making it not worth having Vista instead of XP.

what i meant is, that even if you get the game to run (which is possible in a technical sense) it won't be running at playable fps, no matter what you do. your single core cpu is just too weak for pcsx2 and i suspect that it's the same with your gpu.

You P4 has HT enabled. Assuming you have something better than an on-board video card, you will in fact be able to play quite a few games at decent framerates (with the help of speedhacking and being happy with some glitchy playback). But yeah, on the other hand quite a few other games will be entirely unplayable -- including most (or all) of the DBZ games for example.

So it depends on what sort of games you plan to put through the emu.

Anyways, PCSX2 has issues with PAL versions of some games. It likes to hang at startup or after the first FMV. Not much we've been able to do to fix it thus far. It's been a tough bug to nail down. I'm going to assume that's your problem here, and there's not much you can do to fix it. Sorry. Sad
