I don't know 6 threads from 6 cores at 4GHZ (Albiet, lower clock for clock performance) would compete against 7 threads from 4 cores at 3.4. (Albeit better clock for clock)
AMD Phenom II 940 @ 3.6GHZ, 4GB PC8500 @ 1100MHZ, 4870x2 @ Stock.

Generally more cores > higher clock speed unless the clock speed is extremely low on the one with more cores. This assumes the software is capable of handling all cores efficiently.

Armored Core: Last Raven

As GSDX won't able to run it.

For such 2d game, SRWOhmyGs only reaches 40-50 FPS.

All Ratchet and Clank games.
Funny thing is, after r1888 GT4 was the easiest game for me to run at above 60fps. Only glitch I can notice is that headlights keep flashing at night tracks.

I will test pcsx2 with my macbook pro, I suspect my experience is different from everyone else because my CPU is at 4GHz and my gpu is a 5870.
C2D E8400 @ 4ghz
Asus Maximus Formula
G.Skill 4gb (2x2gb) @ 1000mhz
XFX 5870 1gb
Intel X-25m 160GB SSD
Windows Vista Ultimate 64-bit
Dell 30" 3007wfp

Definitely Gran Turismo 4 is one of the most demanding games to emulate, there are moments on few tracks where fps drops to around 40-45 on my config but it's not the worst of all. I think that Godzilla Unleashed is even bit more demanding than GT4.
AMD Phenom II 550 Black Edition @3.8GHz
4GB DDR2 1066MHz CL5-5-5-15
ASUS Radeon EAH4770 Formula 512MB DDR5

Funny thing is, i can't even run GT4 and get a black screen in newest revisions.

I disagree. If you run it in native, both OGs and OGG run 60 fps plus. I just would up the graphics and run them around 55fps. So I didn't think they were too intensive.

The MOST demanding, from my own experiences are... GOW1&2, Godhand, Fatal Frame 3... What else........... They say Shadow of the Colossus is demanding, never tried........ Hmmmm... Gran Turismo 4 maybe ??? I never tried too........ DBZ BT3 might get demanding in vs mode, with 2 players.

If I recall anything else I'll edit this post... Can't remember if there's more.

So for these demanding games how much CPU speed do you need for full speed?
