Why is my game slow

Bug
Hello and Merry Christmas!

I have been wondering why my game I have has been so slow on PCSX2. I am running Shadow of the Colossus. When I am in a stage where I do not need much graphics processing like at the loading screen, it goes at about 50-100 fps, but when I'm playing and at the start screen, it goes down to 20-40 fps. I have a new Sony VAIO E Series with an Intel Core i3 Processor (2.40 GHz) and 4.00 GB RAM. Any way to speed up the emulating would be great!

Thanks Biggrin

just going mention ur running a very heavy game. and since i believe thats a laptop and you wouldnt be overclocking it.

The only way is try useing speedhacks that the emulator provides.

Some games require a very beefy cpu.

this is very true Biggrin

sadly his only hope is through speedhacks if they are not already on.

Vu cycle stealing speedhack works very well with that game...

I used the VU cycle stealing speedhack and now it's up to 30-50 fps on regular 3d processing. Thanks Laugh

Try combining EE cyclerate and VU cycle stealing to the minimal to grant you stable 50 FPS (assuming it's PAL version).

higher speedhacks values may cause collateral problems and that's depending on the game but many of them accept EE at 2 and VU at 2 with maybe a kind of lag once and again, but that should be better than raw variation around 30-50 FPS.

I don't have that game to be sure how it respond to speedhacks but may be worth a try.

Sony Vaio and MacBook are for noobs, not for gamers. If you want to play games, better get an Alienware.

If you're using PAL version, set the video mode to 50 Hz and see if it helps a few FPS.

I'd be more concerned with what's in it than on it.

What is the GPU, anyway...?
Perhaps you could benefit from a lower internal resolution.

Sony Vaios usually come with the crappy Intel HD. Some models do have dedicated graphics cards, but they are always GT 410M or something like that.
