Widescreen patch directly on iso?
#1
greetings.

there has been widescreen mods for games, which to my understanding need action replay codes meddling with active memory of games. I'm trying to find a way to apply such mods without the need for action replay.

to be honest. this is for PS3's recent ps2 classics support and the ability to run games on sony's ps3 ps2emu . and if anyone could help to apply this patch to iso directly, or just without the need for action replay . it'll be a big help to the ps3 scene.

We have a widescreen patch thread, you know. You could've just asked there.

Plus those are not Action Replay codes, they are .pnach files.
To use them on real PS2/PS3, you'll need ps2rdmod:

Or better yet, just use PCSX2.

sorry. I thought asking for another way of widescreen activation wouldn't concern the already established thread.

as for the ps3. it is also an emulator that runs a single iso . and currently we have no option of modifying the memory. or running anything before the iso is run.

ps3 just does a software reset. changes to ps2emu mode and runs whatever is contained in the iso , which is why i wanted to find a way to force the codes into the iso, without modifying the memory in ram.

I don't know, you'd probably have to ask the guys who work in the PS3 scene about getting ps2rdmod working for it, or some sort of .pnach system.
I wouldn't recommend using your PS3 to play PS2 games anyway.
PCSX2 is a great emulator that lets you do so much you couldn't do on a real PS2/PS3.

Kind of scumbaggy for Sony to include a PS2 emulator in the PS3, and make people re-buy their PS2 games via PSN. Don't support PS2 Classics.

thanks for reply. i take it there is no way other than to have the memory tweaked in ps3's ps2_emu then.
i would use my pc. but ps2 emulation is far beyond its capabilities =p.

anyway thanks and hope some ps3 scene dev will hear me out (they tend to be quite lazy when it comes to ps2 on ps3 XD)
