Xenosaga Episode 1 - Plays 1st cutscene at wrong time
#1
So, whats happening is I leave the space coloney after Cherenkov's scenes in the alley, but after the FMV where you leave the station, it replays games 1st FMV with the excavation site. It'll freeze up half way through that scene, and if you skip it it cuts to a black screen. You see the minimap, and I can open the menu, but the screen itself is just black. No Icon other then your character Icon is visible on the minimap.

I'm pretty sure this is caused by either bad or modded iso. Most popular programs fail to create 100% copy of ps2 game disc, while it still can work, different stuff can load or it can just crash/freeze just like that. Redump the game with Imgburn, and it should work fine.

as miseru said, here's the proof :
Quote: CDVD Disk Open: DVD, Single layer or unknown

Xenosaga EP1 is a dual layered DVD.
CPU : AMD Ryzen 7 3800X
Mobo : Asus PRIME B450-PLUS
GPU : NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070
RAM : 16 Go

There's probably your problem aswell, Xenosaga I is if not mistaken a duallayer and not a single layer game, also install PCSX2 outside of Program Files. You could use C:\PCSX2 or on another partition (D or E as an example)

This is the data that I found of my own copy Smile Xenosaga Episode I: Der Wille zur Macht 7.89 GiB

That game don't like speedhacks, that preset at 4 is surely the cause... but... it will not run at full speed without hacks also. So the advice is trying more conservative values for EE cyclerate and VU cycle stealing and testing.

Possible best experience will be achieved with VU at 1 or 2 and EE totally disabled... or EE at 2 and VU at 1 ... anything above this will desync badly in this game.

Bah, I haven't been able to get a hold of a second copy of these games after they got stolen from me the second time, so I'm not going to be able to dump from a disc. Though, as on odd note I probably should have brought up earlier, whats on my system lists Xenosaga as Disks 1, 2, and 3.

Honestly I was a bit confused as to why this was the case, but it worked fine up to this point so I never questioned it. Tongue2

Well, if it's likely a bad Iso I guess there isn't really anything I can do about it now, thanks though. Tongue2

Edit: HUZZAH! I got it!

I loaded from my normal save on Disk 2 from the basement of the Elsa rather then loading the Savestate on Disk 2 (I made it in Disk 1) and it went forward properly!

Thank you to Jesa who mentioned dual layers, that's what got me thinking to try this!

I guess you've patched your ISO to turn it into 3 disks, then. Pretty sure you won't be able to run this onto pcsx2.

Well as I said, I managed to get it moving forward some more. Tongue2

We'll see how far I can get before I have to just watch a lets play of the rest before getting back to episode 2. Tongue2
