Xenosaga I help
#1
I was trying to run this on my PC and it runs good full speed until the 3rd cutscene. So I was wondering does everybody has this problem, or are there any special settings to run it better. After this cutscene, the game goes back to full speed as you can see from the screenshots, the 3rd picture is the problematic cutscene. And if this happens to everyone can you tell me at least if there are other slowdowns later in the game, because if there are I'll just wait untill pcsx2 runs faster or until I get better CPU.

The Settings I used:
pcsx version 1147 and 1212
gsdx: 1.7, 1.15 (962) and 1.15 (1236)
sound: SPU2-X 1.1.0
Speed Hacks: No Cycle Stealing (if it's on the sound goes faster than the video output), EE x2 Cycle Rate, and the 3 checkboxes on the right turned on, only Fast-Forward disabled.

Here are the screens so you know which cutscene gets the slowdown:

Do you have native checked? Whats your gpu and cpu? Are you using dx10?

Well, the first 2 screenshots are from FMVs so they don't count (they're pre-rendered movies). The third is a cutscene using the game engine and some really high-polygon count models. The fourth is a battle (obviously).
My guess is that your computer can't handle the high-polygon cutscenes. You could try native resolution and see if that helps.

PS. I'm jealous you can get 60fps in battles (I get like 10-20)Sad

I don't remember if native was checked when I made the screenshot, but I know I tried it and it has a very minor speed impact 4-5 fps. My CPU is e4500 @ 3.05 GHz, and the GPU is 9800GT. And yes I'm using DX10.

That scene is just slow. Always was. There's a couple more of them, and you'll have to live with the slowness I'm afraid Tongue2

I guess I'll have to. By "couple more of them" do you mean like 3 or 4, or more like 10-15?

Throughout the game a lot of the cutscenes are rendered like that. I would say near 50 or more. They may not all go that slow, though, but Xenosaga I is very heavy on the cutscenes (some lasting around 45 mins when running full speed).

Personally, I would just play it on your PS2 unless you skip them all. Biggrin
